Drug Uses
Moduretic is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention. The active ingredient Amiloride helps kydneys in eliminating and water in the body thus lowering blood pressure.

How Taken
Moduretic tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing this medication. Consult your doctor regarding the dosage suitable for your condition. Usually dosage does not excess 50 mg a day.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Moduretic, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you have heart valve problems, heart failure, heart shock, heart disease, swelling of the hands or feet, a slow heart rate, low blood pressure, or fluid in your lungs, or if you have had a heart attack, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast–feeding, if you have recently had or will be having surgery, or have recently stopped taking a beta–blocker (e.g., propranolol). Some medicines may interact with Moduretic. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. It is not known if Adalat passes into breast milk, therefore do not take this drug without your doctor`s approval if you are breast feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Moduretic you should stop taking this drug and contact you doctor promptly. With some brands of Moduretic Tablets you may notice undissolved parts of Moduretic Tablets in your stool. This is normal and not a cause for concern. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of Moduretic. These patients might require a lower dosage or/ and special monitoring during treatment. Moduretic is not approved for use by children.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- constipation, dizziness, flushing, giddiness, headache, heartburn, heat sensation, lightheadedness, nausea, weakness. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), irregular pulse, shortness of breath, swelling of the feet or hands, tender, bleeding, or swollen gums.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature, between 59 – 86 °F (15 – 30 °C) in a tightly closed container. Keep away from heat, moisture, and light (not in the bathroom). Keep Moduretic out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the possible symptoms of Moduretic overdose are- dizziness, fainting, loss of consciousness, rapid, slow, or irregular heartbeat.

More Information
Moduretic may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. These effects may worsen if Moduretic is taken with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Moduretic Tablets with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you take Moduretic Tablets. Proper dental care is important while you are taking Moduretic Tablets. Brush and floss your teeth and visit the dentist regularly. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Moduretic should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed.
